Series of print posters for events at University of Washington
Wyatt Cenac
At the time of this poster Mr. Cenac's face was arguably more recognizable than his name so I was had the challenge of integrating Mr. Cenac's photo. Making Mr. Cenac's photo the moon and using negative space and a building pointing up naturally leads the viewer's eye to his photo in an organic, seamless way.
Ferguson
The national discussion at the time of Michael Brown's death was centered around politics, but this event sought to frame the conversation around the emotions that the event evoked instead. I used a bold photograph of Michael Brown, Sr. to focus Michael Brown’s death on the real people involved and the human tragedy instead of as a political issue.
Biodiversity
The challenge of this project was to distill a complicated discussion topic into a simple event description. I wrote the tagline "there's more to community than people" to encapsulate the event idea that humans, animals, and environments all need to be considered when discussing communities. I arranged human, animal, and environment images a large circle, the shape of the earth, to visually represent the idea of the connection and dependency.
